HALP! I need a new couch!

Well tonight we finally were able to sign a contract on a new apartment and pick up the keys. We’ve been hunting for a new place for months, and with me and hubby both being freelance professionals, a lot of places were refusing us on the grounds that we have no stable income. The fact that we made the rent in our old place for eight years straight seems to elude them, but meh, what can you do about morons? I mean aside from shove them down a flight of stairs and go to prison for killing them.

Anywho, now that we’re moving, we’re going to throw out some of our stuff, and my beloved couch is slated for the scrap heap. For those of you who don’t know this already, I have to sleep on the couch most of the time. My stomach does not close at the top properly, so if I try to sleep in a bed, stomach acid rises, and after about three or four hours, I get woken up by the pain. My sleeping is fitful in a bed, and I never feel fully rested.

Sleeping on the couch with my head propped on the arm eliminates this. But our couch is on its last leg, and I have a roll of foam rubber padding over the top to make is look less like junk. Still we don’t think it will survive a move, and we aren’t looking forward to moving it, only to get rid of it again.

So, I need a new couch for the new apartment. The alternative is trying to sleep in bed for six months or so until we can afford to buy a new couch. I do not want to imagine six months of fitful sleep and waking up with chest pains, so I’m appealing to my readers to please help me out. How?

Think of this as an investment in the future web serials on my site. If I’m sleeping well, I can work hard to keep the story queue full all year long. But if I’m not getting rest, both writing and editing will take a lot longer.

I have to warn you: I REALLY need this couch. So I’m afraid I will have to keep bringing this up every few days to try and meet my goals. I already mentioned this on Twitter, and I’m happy to say that a few people already sent in tips to help. But I still need a lot more to make up the 500 Euros for a quality couch that will be comfortable enough to sleep on every night.

I’m sorry if this will annoy you, or make you think of me as “greedy.” But without proper sleep, my multple sclerosis relapses are likely to get worse. I don’t want that to happen, and I would hope that you don’t either. So please, whatever you can spare to donate, please do so.
